Terrorist plan to assassinate Pak President Zardari revealed

Lahore, July 7(ANI): A terrorist plan to assassinate Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has been revealed by suspects arrested in the wake of the suicide attack on Data Darbar last week.

The police have arrested six terrorists after the July 1 attack, in which at least 42 people were killed and over 175 injured in two consecutive suicide bombings and a low intensity blast.

According to reports, during the investigation, the suspects said that had plans to attack Zardari, either at the Governor House -where he will stay during his upcoming visit to Lahore- or to attack the presidential motorcade.

They admitted that they had collected explosives to blow up the Governor House, the Daily Times reports. he disclosed assassination plan also includes the execution of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The police have found a detailed map of the Governor House from the documents seized from the terrorists.

The map comprises details, including the internal and external gates of the official residence of the governor.(ANI)
