SC squashes ex-Goa minister bail plea
Goa, Jul 1: Supreme Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Goa Tourism Minister, Fransisco Mikkey Pacheco on Thursday, Jul 1.
Pacheco was accused in the death case of his female friend Nadia allegedly consuming poison on Jun 30 in Chennai. Police have charged Pacheco with culpable homicide.
Pacheco's anticipatory bail plea had been rejected several times by session court, apex court and even by the Goa bench of Bombay High court at different time.
The Bombay High Court had earlier rejected his bail plea because it had observed the offence was of serious nature and custodial interrogation was required in the case.
Again the former minister's bail plea has been trashed by a bench of Justices R M Lodha and A K Patnaik on Jul 1, explaining that he was not involved in the murder even though he had a relationship with the deceased Nadia Torrado.
Supreme Court observed that the accused may influence the investigation, so it dismissed the plea.
