US accepts assistance to clean Gulf of Mexico
Washington, Jun 30: US agreed to accept assistance from different countries and international groups to collect oil in the Gulf of Mexico.
The offer is to halt the spread of oil and skimmers to collect it from the water.
The US State Department reported that it will consider to accept offers from 27 countries including European Union, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East and from 12 international bodies like International Maritime Organization and the United Nations.
The details of which offers will be accepted and how the help will be delivered were still being worked out. So far, the US had accepted help from countries including Mexico and Norway.
