'Relieved' Ronaldo can lead Portugal to World Cup glory: Carvalho
London, Jun 22 (ANI): Defender Ricardo Carvalho has said that ace striker Cristiano Ronaldo can lead Portugal to World Cup glory.
Ronaldo netted his first international goal for Portugal after 16 months in a 7-0 thrashing of North Korea. It was the Real Madrid superstar's first international goal since Euro 2008.
Chelsea defender Carvalho said: "He needed that goal for his confidence and now he is very happy."
"He is under a lot of pressure at this World Cup and I have already heard him say that he cannot win games all on his own," The Sun quoted Carvalho, as saying.
"The important thing is to play well as a team and that is what we have done," he said.
Carvalho believes that the skipper's armband has brought out the best in Ronaldo, who handed his Man of the Match award to two-goal scorer Tiago.
"Cristiano has definitely benefited from being handed the captaincy. He has a lot of experience and is so important for us because he is a great example to everyone in the team. He always shows great skills and tries in every game to do his best for us." (ANI)
