Victory over LTTE to be celebrated every year by Sri Lanka
Colombo, Jun 15 (ANI): The Sri Lankan Government announced on Tuesday that victory against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) will be celebrated as an annual event every year.
Lankan Government spokesman and Minister of Media, Keheliya Rambukwella, said the event would be celebrated every year.
The first anniversary of the victory over Tamil Tigers will be held on Friday with a colorful ceremony commemorating the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives to protect their motherland.
The Lankan military ended the rebels' bitter 25-year war campaign on May 18, 2009.
The first anniversary celebrations were marred by the bad weather, which affected the rehearsals causing postponement of the celebrations until June. (ANI)
