Nifty ends above 5200 pts; FMCG, realty surge

Mumbai, Jun 15: At 4:10 pm, BSE Sensex was 17,412.83 up 74.66 points and NSE Nifty was 5222.35 up 24.65 points.

Benchmark indices consolidated and Nifty ended the day close above 5200. Around 1706 shares advanced, 1273 plunged and 332 shares remained unchanged.

Realty, FMCG stocks, Metal, Power and capital goods stocks witnessed buying where as IT, Oil & gas and auto stocks underwent selling pressure. BSE Midcap and Smallcap index were up by 0.3 percent and 0.8 percent respectively.

Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Communications, DLF, Sterlite Industries, Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Infra rallied 2 to 5 percent among the Largecaps. BPCL, ONGC, TCS, Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and Cipla lost 1 to 6 percent.

Sensex in red; auto, bank, IT plunged

At 2:10 pm, BSE Sensex was 17,378.21 up 40.04 points and NSE Nifty was 5214.50 up 16.80 points.

Sensex was hovering with a negative bias at 1:07 pm. Sectors including auto, banking, IT and oil & gas stocks all witnessed selling pressure.

FMCG, power and metal stocks underwent buying interest.

The positive contributors include L&T, HDFC, ITC, HUL and Jindal Steel. The frontline negative contributors include Infosys, Reliance, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and SBI.

TCS was a top loser down by 1.8 percent. Cipla plunged by 1.53 percent, Maruti Suzuki down by 1.08 percent, ICICI Bank nosedived by 1.07 percent and Jaiprakash Associates down by 1.01 percent.

Nifty nosedives; banks, IT, Metal in green

At 12:10 hrs, BSE Sensex was 17,275.84 down 62.33 points and NSE Nifty was 5179.90 down 17.80 points.

Nifty was trading mundane in a narrow band of 5180-5200.

BSE Midcap and Smallcap index were trading in green. Metal, power, FMCG, realty and capital goods stocks also witnessed buying. Banks, IT and Oil and Gas stocks also went up.

Around 1588 shares advanced, 1315 plunged and 408 remained unchanged.

Suzlon Energy, Sterlite Industries, Reliance Communications, Reliance Power and Reliance Infra were up
1.3-5.3 percent among the largecaps.

TCS, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, Cipla and HDFC Bank went down by 0.9-1.6 percent. Reliance was trading down 0.48 percent and Infosys plunged by 0.66 percent.

HPCL also went in red by 0.35 percent and ITC, down by 0.56 percent. Hindustan Lever was also going in red by 0.35 percent.

Nifty opens in red; Asian Markets mundane

At 9:45 hrs, BSE Sensex was 17,363.60 up 25.43 points and NSE Nifty was 5205.00 up 7.30 points.

Nifty opened the day with a consolidation down by 8 points and Sensex was also down by 31 points when the markets opened. Around 367 shares advanced where as 301 plunged in NSE. Asian markets also were mundane.

Auto, select financials and technology witnessed pressure. CNX Midcap declined 6 points.

Reliance Communications was up by 3 percent as it will demerge Reliance Infratel. Reliance Power and Reliance Capital also rose. ITC, HDFC and HCL Tech were the others who surged.

The frontliners under pressure were TCS, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, DLF, Jaiprakash Associates, Idea Cellular, Unitech, Hindalco and BPCL.

Among the broader indices, Shree Renuka Sugars and Balrampur Chini gained 2 percent. Bajaj Hindusthan gained 3 percent. Duncans rose 5 percent. GTL Infrastructure was also up by 3.5 percent.
