Obama urges Israel to ease Gaza restrictions

Washington, Jun 10: Barack Obama asked Israel to help ease its restrictions on humanitarian aid for Gaza, adding that the situation in the blockaded coastal strip was unsustainable on Wednesday, Jun 9.

Obama was hosting Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian President at White House. Obama promised 400 million dollars for the West Bank and gaza. He also sought to lessen the Middle East problems, by advocating US-brokered peace efforts.

Obama requested for a new 'conceptual framework' for the Israeli embargo on Gaza and said that Isreal was pressurising the Jewish State to work with all parties to find a solution. Obama said that it would be mandatory to 'get all the facts' about the flotilla raid as it was an important tragedy.

Abbas, who now governs West Bank visited Obama said that they want to lift the Israeli siege of the Palestinian people.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, will meet Obama by the end of Jun to discuss about the issue, reported the US and Israeli officials.
