Kathmandu, June 9 (ANI): Former Indian Ambassador to Nepal KV Rajan complimented Nepal's initiative to strengthen democracy through the end of the conflict and completion of Constituent Assembly elections.

Rajan said the world has been watching the peace process in Nepal that ended the decade-long insurgency.

" Nepali leaders should seriously collaborate as per the people's aspirations for the safe-landing of the transitional phase," he added.

He said the UCPN-Maoist has chosen the path of multi-party competition and peaceful politics and it would be better for the future of Nepal if the Maoists continue honestly on the path of peaceful politics.

He said that India was ready to extend any kind of support to complete constitution writing on time and establishment of lasting peace.

Meanwhile, a standing committee meeting of CPN (UML) decided that the door towards the formation of a national consensus government will be opened only after political understanding is reached on peace process and Constitution writing.

However, Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Chandra Nemwang has said that the new Constitution could be completed within eight months if the major political parties came to terms on the implementation of the three-point pact.

He said that there was no alternative to forging consensus among the political parties and found that the leaders were keen to implement the three-point pact, Kantipur reports. (ANI)
