US and China to cooperate in energy sector
Beijing, May 27: In order to enhance cooperation in energy sector, China and the US have signed eight green energy deals. This hopes to pave the way for imports of high-end technology which so far been blocked by Washington.
The eight deals include aviation bio fuel, distributed energy systems using natural gas as fuel, smart meters and cellulosic ethanol.
The high-level strategic and economic dialogue between the two countries attended by U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke among others ended with this agreement.
World"s two largest energy consumers, China and the US will also join hands for renewable energy development, said Zhang Guobao, head of National Energy Administration (NEA)
US and China will “take every angle" to ensure their cooperation in energy and environment, said US Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman.
This deal is being looked upon as an example for global collaboration in increasing energy efficiency and protecting environment.
This is significant to China at it is one of the biggest emitter's of carbon related gases and it hopes to bring down its carbon emission levels down by 2020
