Blast in Russia: death toll increases
Moscow, May 27: Seven people were killed and 40 got injured in a bomb blast, which occured in Stavropol, a southern city in Russia, on Wednesday, May 26. 16 among the injured are in a critical condition.
The blast took place outside the city's House of Culture and Sport ahead of a Chechen band's concert. The explosion was equivalent to 400 gms of TNT, said Yekaterina Danilova, a top investigation officer. The explosive was disguised as a pack of juice.
The attack, suspected from the terrorists, was aimed at shattering the national unity, informed Stavropol territory governor Valery Gayevsky.
Stavropol which has remained free of violence is the largest region in the North Caucasus federal district.
