North Korea to cut all ties with South Korea over diplomatic confrontation

Washington, May 26(ANI): North Korea has warned that it will severe all ties with South Korea over the diplomatic confrontation following the recent sinking of a South Korean warship.

South Korea has blamed North Korea for the sinking of the ship, which killed 46 sailors.

The confrontation has also led South Korea President Lee Myung-bak to say that they would "redesignate" the North its "archenemy".

"In the past 10 years, we have failed to establish the concept of principal enemy. We have ignored the very danger under our feet," The New York Times quoted Myung-bak, as saying.

The North responded by saying they would terminate all communications with the South while Myung-bak was in office, and stop the South's jets from using its airspace.

The confrontation already appears to be the closest the two countries have come to open hostilities since 1994, when the North threatened to turn Seoul into a "sea of fire" if its nuclear violations were referred to the United Nations for sanctions. (ANI)
