Mystery surrounds Pak Major, brother's arrest in connection with failed NY plot

Islamabad, May 26 (ANI): The mystery surrounding the arrest of a Pakistan Army Major, who is said to have had contacts with the failed Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad, has deepened with detention of his brother.

While the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has rejected reports that Major Adnan of the Army Signals Corps had links with Shahzad, it is mum on the arrest of Major Adnan's brother, Qamar Ejaz, who was picked up five days after his brother's arrest.

A statement issued by the ISPR said Major Adnan was arrested on 'disciplinary grounds', but it did not mention anything about Ejaz.

Ejaz is said to be a computer engineer in Software Technology Park, Islamabad.

Relatives said both the brothers were devout Muslims but vehemently denied their links with the militants.

"Adnan had memorized the Holy Quran after joining the Army as a commissioned officer and his younger brother was taking Dars-e-Niazmi classes these days in Faisal Masjid" The News quoted relative, who refused to named, as saying.

According to family sources, Adnan's family had migrated from Kashmir to Rawalpindi in 1950s. (ANI)
