Prabhakaran's mother's visit: TN writes to Centre
Chennai, May 3: After Parvathi Ammal, mother of slain Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader V Prabhakaran, was deported to Malaysia in Apr, the Tamil Nadu government has now written to the Centre asking it to allow Ammal to visit the state for medical treatment.
"We have written to the Union home secretary to consider allowing Parvathi Ammal for treatment in the state provided certain conditions are met," the Deputy chief minister MK Stalin told the Assembly.
"We received an e-mail from Parvathi Ammal requesting us to allow her to come to Tiruchirappalli for treatment", Stalin added.
He, however, did not divulge on the 'conditions'.
Last month, immigration officers deported Ammal to Malaysia when she came to Tamil Nadu for treatment. This led to several questions being raised against the government.
The issue was also taken to the Madras High Court, which sought an answer from the government as to why Prabhakaran's mother was deported.
The Chief Minister Karunanidhi said that he did not know of Ammal's visit.
