Train controllers to go on mass leave on May 1
Nagpur, Apr 27: The All India Train Controllers Association has threatened of a mass casual leave by train controllers in the Indian Railways on International Labour Day (May 1) in support of their demand for higher pay scales and allowances among others.
According to a release on Tuesday, Apr 27, the Train Controllers asked for gazetted rank for all the chief controllers and deputy chief controllers along with higher pay scales, stress allowance (30 percent of basic pay), mike allowance (at ten pc basic) and break down allowance as actual.
Along with that they also demanded corresponding pay band of Rs 15,600- 39,100 for chief controllers and deputy chief controllers and Rs 9,300- 34,800 for section controllers.
According to the Association, the 25 percent vacancies in the cadre on all-India basis are not filled through proper selection and instead Station Masters, Movement Inspectors and Guards are made to work on Control Boards, Emergency Control and Time Table Controllers.
The Association said that taking into consideration the nature of work, stress and tension involved with the job, the Railway Board should seriously considering raising the percentage of leave reserve post from 18 percent to 30 percent.
