Sentencing of Kiwi-Indian liquor store owner's killer delayed

Auckland, Apr 23(ANI): The sentencing of six young men over the fatal shooting of the Indian-origin Manurewa liquor store owner Navtej Singh, who was murdered in June 2008, has been delayed.

Anitilea Chan Kee, the gunman, who said he did not mean to fire the shot that killed Singh, has been found guilty of the murder.

Five others -Myron Felise, Tino Felise, Eti Filoa, Walter McCarthy and Jason Naseri, were all found not guilty of murdering Singh, but have been convicted of aggravated robbery.

The Auckland High Court was due to sentence the six today, but a new date will now be set for sentencing, The New Zealand Herald reports.

The 30-year-old Singh, a father of three young children, was shot in the chest during a robbery at his Manurewa liquor store on June 7, 2008.

He died in hospital the next day. (ANI)
