PM likely to meet Sonia on Tharoor issue

New Delhi, Apr 18: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday, Apr 18, to discuss the fate of Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor in the wake of the IPL controversy.

According to media report, party members are of the opinion that things would have been better for Tharoor is he had atleast offered a resignation following the controversial Kochi IPL bid.

It has been said that Congress party are against the Prime Minister talking on Tharoor's behalf as it could draw the ire of the opposition against him and the government in the parliament.

Tharoor has been accused of misusing his office to help his friend Sunanda Pushkar to get 'free' equity worth Rs 70 crores in the Kochi IPL franchise.
