Maoists fire on Dantewada massacre probe team
Raipur, Apr 17: Just as the probe into the Dantewada Maoists Massacre began on Saturday, Apr 17, the ultras struck once again targeting the investigative team led by former BSF Director General E N Rammohan
Mr Rammohan, who arrived in Chhattisgarh to probe the circumstances that led to the killing of 76 security personnel by Maoists, met with a violent roadblock on the very first day of investigation.
Ultras dressed in CRPF uniform fired at the security men of the investigative officer at Chintalnar in Dantewada district. The security men included CRPF and local police personnel.
However, no one was injured in the firing.
69-year-old Rammohan, a 1965 batch IPS officer, will not only be mapping the sequence of events but will also be examining the response of the State police and the CRPF both during the ambush and after the attack.
He will be identifying the lapses and submitting a report to the government by Apr 24 so that the questions on the attack are answered and similar incidents do not recur.
