No interference of Pak Army in country's politics: Gilani

Islamabad, Apr.10 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has hailed the army's decision not to interfere in country's political affairs, saying the armed forces are upporting the democracy while remaining within the constitution's ambit.

Speaking during a luncheon hosted by National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza to celebrate the passage of the 18th Constitutional Amendment bill, Gilani said urged all state institutions to work under their described framework for the over all development of Pakistan.

He also thanked all political parties for supporting the government over the bill.

"The consensus on the 18th Amendment Bill was the dividend of the policy of reconciliation adopted by the government," The Daily Times quoted Gilani, as saying.

Gilani also appreciated President Asif Ali Zardari for voluntarily yielding his key powers.

Gilani said Zardari could have done so from the next tenure of the assembly, but "he was gracious enough to accept it without any delay." (ANI)
