JK Rowling among most influential women in Scotland

London, March 22 (ANI): JK Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter fantasy series, has made it to the list of ten most influential women in Scotland.

The 44-year-old author was honoured at the Action for Children Scotland Woman of Influence Awards in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

Other winning women who have had a major impact on Scottish society and were recognised at the charity event included singer Sharleen Spiteri, actress Elaine C Smith and Dr Bridget McConnell, the chief executive of Culture and Sport Glasgow, and lawyer Baroness Helena Kennedy QC.

"I am thrilled to have been voted one of the 'Perfect 10'. Action for Children Scotland is an extremely worthwhile charity that makes a real difference to lots of children's lives," The Scotsman quoted Smith as saying.

"I have been lucky enough to attend a number of Woman of Influence lunches over the past ten years and they have always been fantastic events - loads of fun and hugely successful in raising a ton of cash for the charity," she added.

Britain's Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle, however, failed to make it to the list. (ANI)
