When home alone Gordon Brown invited burglar into his house

London, Mar 2 (ANI): Gordon Brown has revealed how he unknowingly invited a burglar into his home when he was a ten-year-old boy.

The British Prime Minister told the latest edition of Shortlist magazine that as a child, he had been encouraged by his father John, a minister, to open the family manse to all those in need.

However, the burglar was only foiled when Brown's parents returned soon after.

"When I was about 10 my parents went out for an hour or so," the Sun quoted him as saying.

"This guy knocked at the door and said he needed food so I just said 'Come in, help yourself'.

"My father's a minister and people used to come to the door of the house and beg for money or ask for help.

"It was quite common that my father would give them a pound or something, so that's what I thought you did.

"My parents arrived back just afterwards and it seemed I'd just invited in the town's leading burglar.

"He was having a look round and was just about to take everything," he added. (ANI)
