No license for Blackwater to operate in Pakistan: Haqqani
Islamabad, Feb.24 (ANI): Terming reports regarding the Pakistan government giving a license to the controversial private US security firm, Blackwater, as 'speculative', Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani has said that there is no evidence to prove the American firm's presence in the country.
"Some elements are claiming the presence of Blackwater in Pakistan, but no one has come up with evidence to back this claim," Haqqani told a private television channel.
Responding to a query regarding the continuous drone attacks in the lawless tribal region along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, Haqqani said Islamabad has raised the issue with Washington.
"We are in contact with the US government on this particular issue. The government will disclose all facts on the matter as soon as there was any development on the issue," The Daily Times quoted Haqqani, as saying.
He also urged the US to use its influence to stop India from using Afghanistan for launching activities against Pakistan. (ANI)
