Aussies among most avid online video viewers

Melbourne, Feb 22 (ANI): Aussies are the most avid online video viewers, according to a new research.

Over 41 percent of Aussie Internet users have accessed YouTube videos, downloaded TV shows and the latest Hollywood flicks.

According to the Nielsen 2010 Internet and Technology report, the trend will grow further this year, with 44 percent of regular online video viewers Down Under planning to watch more online streaming videos.

Another 33 percent are set to download more videos.

Complete episodes of TV shows, amateur clips on YouTube, music videos and movies emerged as the most popular video downloads and streams.

Nearly 48 percent men were found to be fond of accessing online videos compared to 34 percent women.

Men found and news videos more interesting, while women viewed TV shows more.

"For some time, the digital industry has been aware of the potential for growth of online video content given it's popularity in Australia," the Herald Sun quoted Nielsen Australia online spokesman Matt Bruce, as saying.

He added: "What this latest data shows us in the true extent of that popularity.

"For the digital industry, that presents an amazing opportunity to tap into Australians' growing love of online content." (ANI)
