JKLF calls for Jammu and Kashmir shutdown
Srinagar, Feb 11 (ANI): The shops and business establishments remained closed here on Thursday as the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) called for a shutdown to mark the 26th death anniversary of their leader Maqbool Bhat.
The city wore a deserted look as private and public transports were off the roads.
Thousands of police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
Nisar Ahmad, a local said, "Maqbool Bhat was hanged on February 11, 1984 by the government and since then this day is being observed here."
Maqbool Bhat, the founder member of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, was executed in Tihar jail in New Delhi on February 11, 1984, on the charges of killing an intelligence officer. (ANI)
