10 Americans face kidnapping charges in Haiti
Port-au-Prince, Feb 5: The ten American charity workers, who were arrested last week under the suspicion of indulging in child trafficking, have been charged with child kidnapping and criminal association for attempting to take Haitian children illegally out of the earthquake torn Caribbean nation.
Haitian deputy prosecutor Jean Ferge Joseph, who announced the charges told the Americans, including five men and five women, their case was being sent to an investigative judge.
"That judge can free you but he can also continue to hold you for further proceedings," the deputy prosecutor said.
Most of the charged US missionaries belong to an Idaho-based Baptist church.
