Four of nine 26/11 terrorists were Indians: Kasab

Mumbai, Jan 18: Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, on Monday, Jan 18 shocked the country when he told the trial court that four out of the nine terrorists who targeted the Taj Hotel were Indian nationals.

Kasab, who has been making contradicting and conflicting statements over the past month, told the court that his accomplice Abu Ismail was from Mumbai.

Kasab and Ismail are believed to be the two terrorists who attacked the crowded Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus during the 60-hour terror strike in Nov 2008.

Ismail was later shot dead by the police in an encounter while Kasab was captured alive.

The Pakistani terrorist further told the court that the other two terrorists were from Kashmir and from Gujarat. He, however, did not divulge any details about the fourth 'Indian' terrorist.

Speaking to the media outside the court, public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam dubbed Kasab's claim as 'absurd and concocted'.

"He has been taking frequent U-turns and this is one of those. This will in no way weaken the prosecution's case against him," Nikam said.
