US road named after Indian American entrepreneur
Washington, Jan 12: In an unprecedented recognition of the Indian diaspora in United States, a road in New Jersey is going to be named 'Mehtani Way' after an Indian American restaurateur, who not only popularised the Indian cuisine but is also hailed for enriching the culture and economy of the township.
Mehtani Way, the road in the city of Edison, was unveiled by Jun Choi, the outgoing Mayor at a ceremony over the weekend.
Satish Mehtani, whose family runs a chain of Indian restaurants in New Jersey, was also present at the ceremony.
“It is the first time I am dedicating a street to an entrepreneur, Satish Mehtani, who has contributed to enrich the culture and economy of Edison Township," Choi said.
Edison accounts for one of the largest concentrations of Indian Americans in the country and the road falls in that part of the city known as 'Little India".
