Georgetown, Jan 9(ANI): A Georgetown-based stylist, who did the makeup for Michaele Salahi on the night of the White House state dinner honouring visiting Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in November, has been served with a subpoena to appear before a U.S grand jury next week.

The grand jury has been convened to investigate whether false or fraudulent statements were made to the government, apparently in the matter of how Tareq and Michaele allegedly attended the state dinner without an invitation.

The subpoena says that the grand jury is investigating a possible violation of 18 USC 1001, a federal statute that covers lying to a government official.

It has asked stylist Erwin Gomez, who is the co-owner of the Erwin Gomez Salon on Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown, to appear before the jury in the U.S. District Court on Tuesday.

According to reports, Michaele prepared at Erwin Gomez Salon for her evening at the White House.

Another subpoena has been served to Peggy Iokim, a stylist at the salon who worked on Michaele's hair that day. eanwhile, James Packard-Gomez, CEO of the Erwin Gomez Salon, has said that Erwin and Peggy will report to the court as requested by the U.S. Government.

"The Erwin Gomez Salon prides itself on its reputation, and we will tell nothing, but the truth," The Politico quoted Packard-Gomez, as saying. (ANI)
