BSE and NSE to start at 9 am from Jan 2010
Mumbai, Dec 17: Based on 'market feedback', Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) have decided to defer the advancement of trading hours to Jan 4, 2010.
India's premier stock exchanges took this decision on Thursday, Dec 17 after receiving opposition from the brokering fraternity on the decision to start trading at 9 am from Friday, Dec 18, as opposed to the present 9:55 am.
Reports suggest that the brokers have expressed worry over the operational factors as well as the strain on their daily routines.
The stock exchanges have been trying to extend their trading hours in order to align with the major Asian markets and in turn boost trading volumes.
