Somnath temple, Sena members on LeT hit list: FBI

Washington, Dec 15: The Federal Bureau of investigation has brought to light 26/11-type attacks planned by Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba on National Defense College in New Delhi, Somnath temple in Gujarat along with attacks targeting some Bollywood stars and Shiv Sena leaders in Mumbai.

"In the September 7, 2009 conversation, Headley discussed four targets with Rana Somnath temple, Denmark, Bollywood and Shiv Sena," the FBI said in a 10-page document containing new evidence and charge sheet against terror suspect Tahawwur Rana.

Rana's bail plea hearing is due in a Chicago court on Tuesday, Dec 15.

The US agency has revealed these details in the footnote of the affidavit submitted to the court.

"In his post-arrest statement, Rana falsely claimed that these were references to potential business ventures. It is difficult to imagine why a person who praises the work of a designated terrorist group that attacks India would look at an Indian temple or a Hindu nationalist party as a business venture," the FBI noted.

"And it bears note that, as set out in the complaint, 'business' and 'investments' were code words used by Rana, David Coleman Headley, "Pasha" (a retired Pakistani Army Brigadier) and others to describe terrorist plots," the FBI said.

The US prosecutors have also revealed the details of the conversation between Rana and Headley praising the Lashkar-e-Toiba for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
