India is not in the firing line: Ramesh
Copenhagen, Dec 14: As the climate of differences arises in the Copenhagen summit of climate change, Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said that India and US shared the same concern with regard to climate change.
Ramesh said that though India and other countries differed in their opinion from other 43 countries in the AOSIS, the major differences existed between China and other developed countries and between EU and US.
"India is not in the firing line," Ramesh said, adding that China was a primary concern for US as the former is the hub for largest carbon emission.
The statement by Ramesh comes days after Todd Stern, US negotiator of climate change, urged India along with other developing countries like Brazil, South Korea and China to move beyond their domestic measures to tackle climatic change and sign up an international agreement.
