Italy: Devil forces rockstar monk to quit
Milan, Nov 14: A 63-year-old monk who turned into a rockstar has reportedly quit singing heavy metal blaming the devil for him too much of a celebrity.
Cesare Bonizzi was the lead singer for the band Fratello Metallo (Metal Brother) and has recorded albums a punk label. Bonizzi performed at concerts in his traditional brown robe, sandals and white rope around his waist.
But now white-bearded Capuchin Rockstar is not happy with the celebrity status that the devil has made possible for him.
"The devil has separated me from my managers, risked making me break up with my band colleagues and also risked making me break up with my fellow monks. He lifted me up to the point where I become a celebrity and now I want to kill him," the 'Brother Metal' said in his farewell video.
Bonizzi who was inspired by a Metallica concert he attended 15 years ago has now given up his long white hair to signify the transition.
In the video, one of the monk's band members is shaving off Bonizzi's long mane.
