Pak: Zardari surrenders power to Gilani
Islamabad, Oct 28: Using his powers under Article 58(2b), Pakistan President Asif Ali zardari has decided to surrender his presidential power to PM Gilani to maintain the continuity of power and stability of the parliamentary system.
Following the implementation of this decision Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will have the power of dissolution of assemblies and appointment of services chief which are the discretionary power of President of Pakistan.
Speaking to a private television channel, Federal information Minister, Qamar Zaman Kaira said the that decision was the outcome of the meeting between Zardari and Gilani in which it was decided that Gilani will present the draft of the constitutional amendments drafted by the coallation partners in the session of national assemblies to be held in Nov 2.
