Colorado Sheriff confirms balloon boy incident was hoax
Washington, October 19 (ANI): Authorities in Colorado have confirmed the balloon boy incident was a hoax.
A couple of weeks earlier, 6-year-old Falcon Heene's parents, Richard and Mayumi had raised alarm that the kid had flown off in a homemade balloon, only to be later found hiding at home.
However, Larimer County, Colo., Sheriff Jim Alderden has found out that it was a set up to get media attention.
"It has been determined this was a hoax," People mag quoted him as saying.
No arrests have been made yet, but it is likely that the Heene family may be charged with two felonies: conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Alderden added that protective services would look into whether or not the children should be removed from the home.
The Heene home was also searched, after the Sheriff issued a search warrant.
The computers, video equipment and financial records were removed during the search, while the family was locked out of their house.
The family had apparently come up with the plan in order to draw media attention and get on a reality TV show. (ANI)
