Hudson hero Sully to be part of US Airways' safety management team

New York, Sep. 29 (ANI): Apart from flying jets, hero pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger will also be part of US Airways' flight operations safety management team, the airline has announced.

Sullenberger glided into aviation history on January 15 with a flawless emergency landing in the Hudson River after geese disabled his jet's engines shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport.

"The months since January 15 have been very full, and my family and I have had some unforgettable experiences," The New York Post quoted Sully, as saying.

"However, I have missed working with my colleagues at US Airways and I am eager to get back in the cockpit with my fellow pilots in the months ahead. In my new role, I will continue to be the same kind of advocate for aviation safety that I have been for several decades," he added.

However, US Airways is yet to announce when Sullenberger will return to the cockpit. (ANI)
