Pak allows US embassy to 'legally' buy 264 houses in Islamabad
London, Sep. 28 (ANI): The United States embassy in Islamabad has legally been allowed to buy 264 houses in the city, Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said.
Earlier, a petition challenging the massive expansion of the US embassy in Islamabad had been filed in the Pakistan Supreme Court.
The petition filed by advocate Zafarullah Khan challenged the allotment of land to the US embassy in Islamabad for the expansion work saying such a decision would pose a serious threat to the country's security and sovereignty.
"The extension of the United States embassy is a 'veiled bid' to destabilize Pakistan," the petition said.
It also claimed that buying of agricultural land in various cities of Pakistan would also be used in conspiracies against the country. (ANI)
