Krishna, Qureshi talks end in New York

New York, Sep 28 (ANI): The meeting between External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi ended in New York with no apparent progress on late Sunday evening.

The talks lasted for two hours.

The meeting was centered on the progress of the investigations in Pakistan of Mumbai terror attack.

This is first high-level contact between the countries since the Prime Ministers of both the countries met in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt in July.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting Qureshi said, "Yes, we are considering very senior former diplomat, former foreign secretary - a gentleman called Riaz Mohd Khan," for appointment as special envoy to India.

Earlier, at the UN General Assembly Krishna said the Mumbai attacks would be the focal point of his talks with Qureshi.

Krishna also said: "There cannot be any justification whatsoever for such mindless terrorist acts. It is our collective responsibility and duty to work together to ensure that terrorists, organisers, perpetrators and supporters of such crimes are brought to justice." (ANI)
