Gaddafi met relatives of Lockerbie bombing victims in New York
New York, Sep 26(ANI): Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi recently met the relatives of some of those who died in the tragic December 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie in Scotland, and offered his condolences to them in New York.
Gaddafi is in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
"I met some of them. It was a friendly meeting. I offered my condolences to them for the relatives they lost," Gaddafi said in a CNN interview.
Gaddafi further said that it was a tragic incident and a major catastrophe, which could never be supported.
"No one would support an action like that or be touched and moved by a tragedy like that. Terror in all its forms is a common enemy to all of us," he added.
One of the relatives who met Gaddafi was Lisa Gibson, a lawyer and executive director of a humanitarian group called Peace and Prosperity Alliance, who lost her brother Kenneth Gibson in the bombing.
"Gaddafy shook my hand and we exchanged the general pleasantries. You never really can predict what he will do or how he will respond. But, one thing is true. Few people can resist a gesture of authentic goodwill motivated by love," the New York Post quoted her, as saying.
"I shared with him that I have been to Libya three times and have truly fallen in love with the Libyan people," she added. (ANI)
