Mohammad Reza Rahimi appointed as new Iranian VP
Iran, Sep 14: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed Mohammad Reza Rahimi as the new first vice president, reported the official IRNA news agency.
Mohammad Reza Rahimi, was one among the several vice presidents during Ahmadinejad's first four-year term.
Ahmadinejad faced trouble from his own supporters when he appointed Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie, his close relative as his first deputy.
Supporters could not forgive Rahim Mashaie's comment in 2008 that Iran was a friend of the Israeli people.
Rahim Mashaie since then is the president's chief of staff.
