Overnight raid kills 45 Taliban, Afghan civilians

Kabul, Sep 12: Officials on Saturday, Sep 12, reported the death of 45 Afghan civilians, security forces and militants in an overnight military raid in northern part of the country.

Abdul Razaq Yaqoubi, the provincial police chief said that coalition and Afghan forces killed 11 militants during an overnight raid in northern Kunduz province.

Capt Elizabeth Mathias, a U S military spokeswoman said that the raid was aimed at Taliban fighters, who encourage and help foreign fighters and suicide bombers enter the region.

She added that roadside bomb-making material, ammunition and rocket-propelled grenades were found at the compound.
