Pak PM wants Swat girls schools to be restored on war footing

Peshawar, Sep 8 (ANI): Pakistan's Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said steps will be taken on war-footing for restoration of girls schools destroyed by the extremists in Swat.

Talking to media after attending an informal meeting of the NWFP cabinet, Gilani said the constitutional committee will arrive at a decision regarding changing the name of NWFP.

The Prime Minister, on the occasion, termed the presence of 'black water' as baseless.

He said the committee formed to resolve Balochistan issue has presented its recommendations, which have been approved by President Asif Ali Zardari.

Replying to a question, Gilani clarified that he has cordial relations with Zardari.

Commenting on Malakand situation, The News quoted Gilani as saying that a development package of Rs.2 billion will be initiated there.

"The forces will have to leave the area as military operation cannot provide complete solution of the problem," he said.

He said steps will be taken towards capacity building of the law enforcement agencies while number of police force will be doubled in Malakand. (ANI)
