Man behind Vedic Village controversy arrested
West Bengal, Sep 8: Land shark Gaffar, accused of being involved in the land acquisition for the controversial Vedic Village was arrested along with five others from Bankura by a North 24 Parganas police team on Tuesday, Sep 8.
North 24 Parganas Superintendent of Police Rahul Srivastav confirmed that they were arrested from Indas in Bankura district.
A mob, protesting against forcible land acquisition for Vedic Village burnt it down on Sunday, Aug 23.
A major crisis followed this incident and Abdur Rezzak Mollah, the Land and Land Reforms Minister scrapped the Infosys and Wipro proposed IT projects.
