Porn row 'over', Google back in China
Beijing, Sep 8: Announcing that the pornography row was 'over', Google Greater China president Kaifu Lee revealed that Google has been restored in China.
Earlier, Chinese authorities accused the Internet giant of illegally spreading pornographic content, following which both Google.com and Google.cn had been blocked. Apart from this, Youtube, Google's video-sharing service, had been blocked since Mar 2009.
Google had received a warning from the Communist Party internet regulators to censor all pornography from its searches.
However, the country's intellectuals' severely criticised Google's decision to adhere to these demands with respect to the fact that the company's Chinese competitor, Baidu was not forced to censor.
