'False' rape charges: Pak woman gets 40 lashes

Lahore, Aug 29: A Pakistan court severely penalised a 32-year-old woman who for 'falsely' accusing two men of raping her.

Under the controversial, 'Hudood' law, the court handed out 40 lashes, and rigorous two year imprisonment after the charges she levelled against two men proved to be false.

The woman, Abida Bibi, the wife of a labourer accused two men of 'zina" or forcible fornication, the sessions judge said, adding that she was therefore guilty under the provision of the Hudood Ordinance related to 'qazf" or false accusation of fornication.
