'Dream of Tamil Eelam turned nightmare on May 18'
Colombo, Aug 27: One of the close aides of the LTTE chief has revealed that V Prabahakaran tried to escape the forest just before he was killed by the Sri Lankan Military.
According to the 'Bottom Line' newspaper, now detained Gokulan Master who was with the Tamil Tigers' leader during his last few days said that he made the last attempt to escape his death so that rebel group and its dream for a separate Tamil homeland would not be defeated.
"If we fail in our final plan, we would be killed by the Sri Lankan army. In such an eventuality, no one can claim an Eelam (separate homeland for Tamils) in Sri Lanka and the Eelam dream would become a nightmare," Prabhakaran was quoted as saying by Master.
"So on the morning of May 18, the near 35-year old dream of Tamil Eelam became a nightmare to us," Master told interrogators.
The Tiger Supremo was killed on May 18 in the Puthukudiyiruppu Jungles.
