Washington, Aug. 25 (ANI): Harvard professor and CNN pundit David Gergen has been signed to write a book on how a US president's administration gets rolling and assumes office.

Earlier, Simon and Schuster editor Alice Mayhew had said: "He's writing about this administration and how it takes office, but he's writing from the perspective of Gergen, which is unique, I think, as he has worked in so many administrations on the inside."

When it comes to books revolving round Obama and his team, there's already been Richard Wolffe's "Renegade" and the campaign-focused book "Battle for America 2008" by Dan Balz and Haynes Johnson, Politico reports.

Still to come are Obama-related books by Jonathan Alter, Ryan Lizza, David Remnick, and perhaps Bob Woodward. Wolffe is shopping a second Obama book proposal, the report adds.

However, Simon and Schuster president David Rosenthal clarified, saying: "The new book will focus not just on the Obama administration, but more generally, about when a new administration comes to power."

"What Gergen is writing about is how any new administration gets rolling and assumes power," Rosenthal said.

"It's much more of an historical perspective than an examination of the Obamas or any of the other administration he has worked for in particular. It's history, as opposed to current events," he added. (ANI)
