Panda breeders using 'porn', 'sexercises' to encourage mating

Adelaide, Aug 17 (ANI): Panda breeders have resorted to tactics like showing "panda porn" videos, and putting them through "sexercises", to encourage mating in the animals, and save them from becoming extinct.

Pandas have extremely low libidos, which have discouraged efforts to boost their numbers in China.

Panda experts have warned the species could be extinct in just two to three generations, as rapid economic development infringes their lifestyle.

According to Chinese newspaper Global Times, their habitat has been split up into smaller patches, preventing the animals from roaming freely for mating partners.

"If the panda cannot mate with those from other habitats, it may face extinction within two to three generations," the Adelaide Now quoted Fan Zhiyong, Beijing-based species program director for WWF as saying.

"We have to act now," he added.

Two of the Giant Pandas, Wang Wang and Funi are being send to Adelaide in mid-October, who will spend their first 30 days in quarantine, before spending time getting used to their new home at Adelaide Zoo away from the public eye. (ANI)
