Vandals attack former UK Minister Blears' car in Manchester
Manchester (UK), Aug.10 (ANI): Former cabinet minister and Salford MP Hazel Blears's car was attacked on Sunday while she was canvassing for votes.
According to The Independent, the windscreen of the Citroen Xsara Picasso was smashed and all four tyres slashed while Blears knocked on doors in Weaste, Greater Manchester, police said.
Blears was at the centre of the MPs' expenses scandal, and she dismissed the idea the attack could be the result of a vendetta.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said that the incident took place between 5 p.m. and 6.15 p.m.
Blears was criticised when it was revealed she failed to pay a tax bill of more than 13,000 pounds on the sale of a flat in London. She repaid the money and later resigned as Communities Secretary.
Speaking from her home today, Blears said: "I have made my comment and I think it is all a bit pathetic really." (ANI)
