Typhoon Morakot mudslide leaves 400 missing in Taiwan

London, Aug.10 (ANI): An estimated 400 people remain unaccounted for in a mountainous village in Taiwan after the area was struck by a mudslide created by "Typhoon Morakot."

The Independent quoted a Taiwanese official, surnamed Wang, as saying that a military helicopter had rescued about 100 people from Shiao Lin village in the south of the island.

Taiwan's official death toll from Typhoon Morakot stands at 14. Another 51 - not including the people in Shiao Lin - are listed as missing. (ANI)
