Gilani, Shahbaz for repealing 17th Amendment, 58(2)B
Islamabad, Aug 10 (ANI): Pakistan's Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and Punjab province Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday reiterated their resolve to work for the sovereignty of parliament and resolution of pending issues including the 17th amendment, Article 58(2) B and Charter of Democracy.
The Prime Minister and the PML (N) President also agreed to strengthen the democratic system and continue making efforts for political stability, in a meeting held at the PM House.
The meeting took stock of the political, economic and security situation of the country, The News reported.
They also discussed local government system in light of the decisions taken during the special meeting chaired by Prime Minister Gilani and attended by four chief ministers, Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Chief Executive Northern Areas.
The Punjab Chief Minister said the PML (N) will support constitutional reforms.
He apprised the Prime Minister about the rehabilitation plan for the Christian community in Gojra.
The Prime Minister emphasized that steps should be taken to promote interfaith harmony to prevent recurrence of such incidents. (ANI)
