Islamabad, Aug 6 (ANI): The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has announced that it intends to move a resolution in the National Assembly during the current session, seeking former President Pervez Musharraf's trial under Article 6 of the Constitution.

"The PML-N has decided to move a resolution in the National Assembly during the ongoing session to invoke Article 6 against Musharraf for breaching the Constitution of the country," Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told the House in categorical words.

He asked the government to take action against Pervez Musharraf under Article 6 for violating the Constitution.

"The PML-N leadership has taken a decision to invoke Article 6 against Musharraf if no initiative comes from the government side," The News quoted Chaudhry Nisar, as saying.

He said a treason case was registered against Maulana Sufi Muhammad on the basis of a single speech, but the government was not ready to initiate a case against Pervez Musharraf, who played havoc with the country and its Constitution.

Chaudhry Nisar said it is clearly mentioned in Article 6 of the Constitution that any one who subverts the Constitution would be tried for committing high treason.

"I hope the government will take action against Musharraf after taking the party into confidence," he said.

The PML-N leader wanted to know why the PPP parliamentarians and leaders are silent and why no next step is being taken following the verdict of the Supreme Court.

"Pervez Musharraf kept politicians in jail for a long period but he was given a guard of honour when he left the Presidency and he was allowed to keep the Army House in his possession for one and a half years," Nisar said.

Chaudhry Nisar said he also wanted to know why Pervez Musharraf was allowed to enjoy privileges and status abroad, which ex-presidents and former prime ministers of Pakistan are not getting. (ANI)
